"The Future Of Your Farm"
On November 29, 2016, Tim participated in a panel discussion on "The Future Of Your Farm," hosted by ArborOne Farm Credit and the Pee Dee Land Trust. Tim spoke on conservation easements from his perspectives as an easement donor on his family property; as a Board Member and Chairman of the Land Protection Committee of the Pee Dee Land Trust; and as an advisor to clients having or contemplating having conservation easements on their property. He said that while conservation easements are not for everybody or every property; under the right circumstances, they can be compatible with landowner objectives and offer substantial tax benefits. He stressed that the Pee Dee Land Trust values working forests and does not seek to impede timber harvesting or other forest management activities on its easement properties.
